Don't Fence Me In

I participated in the Markham Towne Quilters’ Guild 2020-2021 program. In that period, we were experiencing a provincial lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We had to stay at home all the time. It was the first time I had to work from home. We could not go shopping for non-essential goods. Our Guild meetings were changed to virtual meetings on Zoom.

I decided to use my scraps for this quilt, of which I had a lot. I had to use two different beige-coloured fabrics for the background because I didn’t have a piece of light-coloured fabric large enough for the whole quilt.

During this time, my sewing machine was acting up. I could only sew in a straight line. I could not do any free motion sewing because the tension was off. I had to wait until the province entered Stage 3 of the reopening plan on July 16th to take it for repair. Finally, I finished the quilt in August.
