Wool Quilt
I received some sample books for men’s suits, which all had swatches made of 100% wool. I came up with an idea to use them for a quilt. After I started the project, I found out wool is much harder to press and quilt.
When I started quilting, I was instructed to get 100% cotton fabric for all the projects. I always wondered why we could not use other materials for quilting. Now, I know the reason for using 100% cotton for quilting. #46x64 #MACHINEQUILTED #Pieced

Neighbourhood
To build this neighbourhood, the basic Log Cabin block pattern was used, which is from MODERN PATCHWORK by Elizabeth Hartman. I added different types of birds to the framed windows, which represent the owners of the houses. I believe the inhabitants will live in harmony. #42x62 #MACHINEQUILTED #Pieced

Four Seasons
This wall hanging has four different panels with different scenery showing the four seasons. I got the inspiration from the book, JAPANESE INSPIRATIONS by Janet Haigh, where she captures the unique style of prints, embroideries, and weavings from the Orient. I created this wall hanging using several techniques: hand piecing, machine piecing, machine applique, and stenciling. In creating this piece, I had to learn how to make my own stencils and pass paint onto the fabric.

Treasure In Pockets
After I found the Recycle Jeans Pockets pattern from Some Assembly Required: Mixed Technique Quilts by Margie Engle, I started to collect old jeans from my family and friends. This pattern has critters crawling out of the pockets. I had a lot of fun making this quilt and it is a good practice to use recycled materials. #44x35 #MACHINEAPPIQUE #MACHINEQUILTED

Once Upon A Time
At the Guild, Kelly DuMaresq introduced the “Spell it with Fabric” pattern. I wanted to create a quilt, not only using the alphabets, but with a saying sewn on the fabric. I found the pattern “ABC Read with Me” from modabakeshop.com with all the books and the saying, “Please read with me,” in between them. I changed the saying to read “Once upon a time… Happily ever after.” This is normally how a fairy tale starts and ends. I love fairy tales. The twenty-six letters of t

Adventure
We learn different techniques to do an art quilt for wall hanging in our fabric art class. When we first start a piece and we do know how will turn out, it always turns out better than we thought. It is an exciting experience! #19X17 #Applique #MACHINEQUILTED

Hanui Patchwork Kimono
KIMONO has long history in Japanese fashion. I used a Japanese-style panel for the main focus of this HANUI KIMONO. The colours in the panels are echoed by the background and border fabric. The sleeves are a patchwork of scraps. It turns into a modernized Kimono design. #50x52 #MACHINEQUILTED #Patchwork

Peaceful Dove
I was inspired by the cover of my Church bulletin. I chose the Dove for this quilt because it means ‘peaceful’.
Small birds were used to fill in the shape of the large bird.
I used light blue and turquoise colours to show the calmness and peacefulness of the design. #24x24 #MACHINEAPPIQUE #MACHINEQUILTED

Canada's 150th Birthday
In 2017 Canada will celebrate the 150th anniversary of Confederation. Across the country, organizations and communities have already started planning how to celebrate this major national milestone. I used the balloons and Maple leafs to design this wall hanging. I also used “HAPPY CANADA DAY” fabric for the border. This is my contribution for this great event! #HANDPAINTED #26x47 #MACHINEAPPIQUE #MACHINEQUILTED #13x17
